It is with sadness that we announce that the Rev’d Peter Knight died on Friday, 28th December.  Peter was Superintendent Minister in the Vale of Stour Circuit having previously served as a minister in Southport and Blackpool and a Local Preacher in Oldham.

Peter will be greatly missed by so many who valued his gracious friendship and creative and lively ministry.  We know that in answering God’s call to ordained ministry, Peter was used by God to bring the Good News to the churches he served and neighbourhoods in which he lived.  Even in the midst of illness, Peter’s faith has been as strong as ever, with his confidence in the assurance of life eternal through Jesus shining through.

Most significantly in his life, Peter was a loving husband to Felicity and devoted father to Simon, Aimee, Josh, and father in law to Ali, and a delighted grandfather to Penelope, born within the last
days of his life.  Peter was a dedicated son to Graham and Carol, and a proud brother of his sister Angela.  Please do remember them in your prayers, together with Peter’s wider family. We know that Felicity and the family are so appreciative of the support and good wishes they have received from around the Connexion during Peter’s illness.   For this they send their heartfelt thanks.

The funeral service for Peter will be held at 12 noon on Monday 21st January 2019 at South Chadderton Methodist Church (Thompson Lane, Chadderton, Oldham, OL9 8LX).  This will be followed by a short service of committal at Crompton Cemetery (Fraser Street, Shaw, Oldham, OL2 7SD), before returning to South Chadderton Methodist Church for refreshments.  Parking at the Church is limited and will be reserved for family members and participants in the service; street parking is available nearby.

A memorial service will be held at 1.00pm on Saturday 26th January 2019 at Leyland Road Methodist Church (Leyland Road, Southport, PR9 9JQ), followed by refreshments.

You are most welcome to attend either or both services which will celebrate the life and ministry of Peter, and the wearing of bright colours is encouraged.  For anyone who may wish to make a donation in memory of Peter, details of nominated charities will appear here in due course.
